Nevzat Tarhan
Born in Merzifon, Amasya in 1952. He graduated from Kuleli Military High School in 1969 and Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine in 1975. After his GATA internship, Cyprus and Bursa continental service, he became a Psychiatry specialist at GATA in 1982. After serving as a hospital physician in Erzincan and Çorlu, he became an Assistant Professor (1988) and Associate Professor (1990) at GATA Haydarpaşa. He served as Clinic Director. He was promoted to Colonel (1993) and Professor (1996). Between 1996-1999, he worked as a faculty member at Yüzüncü Yıl University and as an expert witness at the Forensic Medicine Institution. He retired voluntarily. In 1998, he took on the Turkey representation of Memory Centers of America.
He currently serves as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of NPİSTANBUL Neuropsychiatry Hospital, Turkey's first Neuropsychiatry hospital, and as the Founding Rector of Üsküdar University.
He has over 100 publications, including 31 international ones. He speaks English and German. He is the father of two children.

He served as the founding editor of the journal "Clinical Psychopharmacology" for six years.
In 2010, he was part of the organizing committee for the 7th International ECNS (EEG Neuroscience) congress held in Istanbul.
In 2015, he was part of the World Brain Initiative Working Group at the G20 Antalya Meeting.
Some Professional Awards:
In 1991, he received the "Best Researcher" award at the international congress on "Destructive Drives and Impuls Control" held in the Netherlands.
In 2003, he received the "RTÜK Best Social Program" award for his weekly program "Makul Çözüm" on TV.
In 2005, he received an award from the Prime Ministry's General Directorate of Family and Social Research for his program "Psikoyorum" on SKY TURK, 'for his support of family education and his preventive mental health services to society'.
In 2007, he received the 'Golden Apple' award from the Amasya Foundation for his contribution to the use of Turkish music in treatment.
In 2009, he received the 'Golden Tulip' award in the field of Psychology from Prof. Mümtaz Turhan Social Vocational High School.
In 2009, he was awarded the "Patient Safety Good Practice" Award by OHSAD and the Patient Safety Association.
In 2010, he was selected and awarded the 'Congress Ambassador' for bringing many world-renowned scientists to Istanbul with the ECNS Congress he organized.
In 2015, he was awarded the "Presidential Service Prize" for his contributions to the field of Neurophysiology at the ECNS / ISNIP / ISBET Clinical Neuroscience Congress in Munich, Germany.
