Psychology of Emotions and Emotional Intelligence
Before the concept of emotional intelligence was discovered, the idea of emotions being addressed as a scientific category had always been neglected. Therefore, the roles that emotions actually play at the core of our lives were also ignored for a long time. While Western thought ignored emotions and sanctified reason as the sole absolute value, the East did not realize its richness and did not give the necessary importance to the education of emotions. Yet, deciphering emotions was the first step in self-awareness.
In his book 'The Psychology of Emotions,' Nevzat Tarhan offers a different perspective on the concept of 'emotional intelligence' by analyzing all of a person's positive and negative emotions one by one. By reinterpreting this concept along with the values of the East and West, the author opens a new window in the education of emotions.
