TURBAHAR Turkey Addiction Risk Profile and Mental Health Map Project Final Report 2019

Academicians and students from the Department of Clinical Psychology at Üsküdar University's Institute of Social Sciences have successfully completed a major project. This study, which will greatly facilitate those who determine Turkey's mental health policies, has shown us where we stand. After the completion of the Turkey Addiction Risk Profile and Mental Health Map (TURBAHAR) study, conducted with 125 Clinical Psychology graduate students in the field and on over 24,000 individuals, the project's output presentation was held in February 2019.

Preventive measures against the spread of both addictive substance use and behavioral addictions that lead to impaired functioning and relationships are of great importance in society. Thus, the individual and societal problems caused by these substances and behaviors can be minimized. This field research is the largest study conducted in the field of addiction in our country to date. The research findings are striking and highlight geographical regional differences in addictions. The chemical and behavioral addiction risk profile revealed in the research for this report provides important information on which areas and regions socio-psychological support should be provided for both addiction prevention and reduction of relapse.
