Prof. Dr. Memduh SERİN
Born in Tarsus district of Mersin in 1945. He completed his primary and secondary education in Tarsus. He studied at Ankara University, Faculty of Science, Department of Botany-Zoology (Biology) between 1969-1973 and graduated as a biologist. In December 1973, he was appointed as a Biology teacher to Bayburt High School. In 1978, he was appointed as a Botany Specialist to the Biology Department of Selçuk University, Faculty of Science and Letters in Konya. In 1980, he established the Herbarium of the Botany Department (KNYA) at Selçuk University, Faculty of Science. In 1981, he worked as an assistant in the Biology Department of Selçuk University, Faculty of Science and Letters. He completed his Master's degree in 1983 and his Doctorate in 1987. In 1989, he was appointed as an Assistant Professor to the Biology Department of Selçuk University, Faculty of Science and Letters, became an Associate Professor in 1995 and continued in the same position.
In 2000, he was appointed as a Professor to the Biology Department of Marmara University, Faculty of Science and Letters. In 2001, he established the Marmara University Herbarium (MUFA) and retired from the same university in 2012. In addition to numerous published International and National articles, his lecture notes are among these works. He is currently giving Plant Biology lectures at Üsküdar University, Faculty of Health Sciences and the Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Program, and during this process, he established the Üsküdar University Herbarium (ÜSH) in 2018.
He is married and has two children.
