Niyazi Beki


Niyazi Beki was born in Bingöl in 1953. He completed his classical madrasa education and received a certificate of authorization. After graduating from Bingöl High School and Muş Imam-Hatip High School, he graduated from Erciyes University Faculty of Theology in 1984.

He completed his master's degree at Marmara University with a thesis on the hadith book “es-Sülemî and Kitâbu’l-Erbaîn li’s-Sûfiyye” (1990), and his doctorate at Sakarya University with a thesis titled “The Example of İşârâtu’l-İ’caz in Tafsir in 20th Century Turkey” (1997).

He worked as a faculty member at Sakarya University Faculty of Theology. Between 2003 and 2004, he served as a visiting faculty member at Hartford Seminary, affiliated with the University of Connecticut in America.

Beki, who continues his duty as a faculty member at Üsküdar University, Institute of Sufism Studies, has published about 15 works. Beki has unpublished poems in Turkish, Arabic, Persian, and English, as well as articles and research published in various scientific journals.

Beki is the father of four children and speaks Arabic, English, and Persian.
