Adem Tatlı


Former Faculty Member of the Department of Biology, Faculty of Arts and Sciences (ret.)

Born in 1947 in Küçükköy, a village in the Korkuteli district of Antalya province. He completed his primary education in his village, middle school in the district, and high school at Aydın Ortaklar Teacher Training School and the preparatory class of Ankara Higher Teacher Training School.

He graduated from the Department of Biology, Faculty of Science, Ankara University, and Ankara Higher Teacher Training School in 1970.

He worked as a teacher at Tokat Teacher Training School in 1970-1971. In February 1971, he started as an Instructor at Atatürk University, School of Basic Sciences.

He became an assistant in Botany in 1972. He completed his doctorate at the Faculty of Science, Ankara University in 1975. He completed his short-term military service in 1975.

He conducted research in Manchester, England, between 1978 and 1979. He became an associate professor in 1982. In 1988, he was appointed as Professor and Head of the Department of Biology at Selçuk University.

Between 1993 and 1996, he served as Vice-Rector of Dumlupınar University and Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences.

He held the position of Director of Dumlupınar University School of Health between 1997-1998 and Director of the Center for Research and Application of Environmental Problems between 1998-2004.

In addition to being a member of the Inter-University Council and the General Assembly of the Directorate of Higher Education Credit and Dormitories, he served on the University Executive Board and Senate, as well as the Faculty Board and Faculty Executive Boards.

In 2005, he received a one-year suspension from the university for including creationism in his book 'Evrim' (Evolution). He retired in 2006.

In 2012, he took up a position at Mehmet Akif Ersoy University. In 2013, he won his court case and returned to Dumlupınar University.

He retired due to age on April 25, 2014.

He has been responsible for the website 'sorularlaevrim' (evolution with questions) since 2006.
