Little Explorer Mandala Coloring Book (Popular Children's Series – 1)
Serenity and Focus with Mandala Coloring
In many cultures, the main symbols are circular. The circle has a structure that draws attention to its center, which is why circular shapes have been used as an aid in situations requiring attention, dedication to a task, and concentration since ancient times.
Nature, with the sun, earth, flowers, bird nests, and many other structures, evokes mandalas. Mandala is a simple, effective, and enjoyable activity. Mandala symbolizes spiritual wholeness, completeness, and a state of balance between inner and outer forces. For centuries, the relaxing and calming effect of cyclical and round figures has been used in different cultures, even without the knowledge that they were called mandalas.
The ceiling decorations of mosques, the patterns on carpets, evil eye beads, and lace motifs all possess mandala designs that evoke calmness, coherence, peace, tranquility, compassion, and human warmth. We now offer these mandala designs, passed down through generations as cultural heritage throughout human history, to our children in the form of a simple coloring book as a tool for serenity and focus.
Mandalas, which children can color as they wish without time pressure, will provide a relaxing and calming activity for them. Activities undertaken simultaneously by siblings of different ages will increase their communication. Coloring together for parents and children who have limited emotional-verbal sharing will strengthen family bonds and bring joy to adults as much as to children.
There is no specific technique for coloring or color selection. It is not necessary to color every part of the mandala; one can leave white spaces in the proportion they prefer. There are no restrictions on the type of coloring material to be used, but felt-tip pens can be preferred due to their ability to produce bright colors. Color choices can be made based on color knowledge, such as contrasting colors, primary colors, pastel tones, warm or cool colors, or they can be chosen completely randomly, or even with eyes closed. It should be remembered that there is no right or wrong in a mandala activity.
