Proceedings of the International Symposium on Fütüvvet Sultan Ebu’l-Hasan Harakani and the Sufism Research Thesis Workshop

The International Symposium on “Fütüvvet Sultan Ebu’l-Hasan Harakani” was presented through the joint efforts of Üsküdar University Institute of Sufism Research, Seyyid Ebu’l Hasan Harakani Foundation, Kerim Education, Culture and Health Foundation, Turkish Women's Culture Association (TÜRKKAD) Istanbul Branch, and Nefes Publishing. The symposium featured 28 invited papers from 7 different countries, with 10 papers presented from outside Turkey. Seyyid Ebu’l-Hasan Harakani, known to have deeply influenced great Sufis such as Aynü’l-kudât Hemedânî, Necmeddîn Dâye, Attâr, and Mevlânâ Celâleddîn Rûmî, was commemorated for the first time with an international symposium held in Istanbul. According to a legend narrated by Mevlânâ Celâleddîn Rûmî about Hazrat Harakani, Bayezid Bistami had foretold that a great saint would emerge from Harakan a century after him. This book addresses interesting topics such as Harakani's place in Sufism, Harakani's work titled Nûrü’l-Ulûm, İbn Arabî's understanding of fütüvvet, Harakani in the Masnavi, the Harakani - İbn Sina dialogue, Fütüvvetnâmes, different views in the literature on fütüvvet, and the reflections of fütüvvet philosophy on business life.
