Families at University Project

Considering that the institution of family is globally eroding and divorce rates in some countries are reaching 60%, and new generations are avoiding marriage, this project is the product of social protective, preventive, and rehabilitative efforts. The situation of unhealthy marriages resulting in divorce is increasing in our country. Individuals in this process need psychological support due to the problems they experience. The increasing number of divorces in our country and the rise in those seeking psychological support due to family problems make it important to conduct comprehensive research and develop projects in this area. The global perception of family is changing towards “Family is historical, an institution imposed by traditions, the individual is fundamental.” This change damages the institution of the family. Our thesis is: “Family is a living institution, it should be a zone of trust, and cooperation is fundamental.” Our aim is to spread this view in our country.

The project team, composed of experts working in the field, identified the target audiences and their needs through a series of meetings and a workshop on project management cycle training. The project team was divided into small groups according to their areas of expertise, and they worked on planning activities to meet the needs of each target audience. Early-stage training will be conducted to strengthen married and family life, focusing on essential skills such as healthy communication, developing solutions to problems, emotional maturity, and stress management for individuals who have not yet reached marriageable age. In our project, for each target audience; practices are designed in the form of applied training, educational events such as seminars and conferences, printed materials for information and awareness-raising, awareness-raising workshops, and therapeutic group activities. Printed materials containing modules tailored to the needs of the groups identified as target audiences have been created. The effectiveness of the method used will be tested by conducting pre-test and post-test applications in the workshops where the modules are processed.
