CONFERENCES AND LECTURES ON BRAIN-BEHAVIOR RELATIONSHIPS I

The brain constitutes 2% of body weight but uses 15% of cardiac output. The brain uses 25% of the total oxygen and glucose capacity of the entire body (Clark, Sokolof 1999).

Past neuroscience mistakenly defined the brain as a ‘Silent Organ’. The famous neuroscientist Marcel Mesulam says, “5% of the brain is responsible for conscious activity, and 95% for unconscious activity.”

Damasio (1994), who defined the Somatic Marker Hypothesis, states that every organ is chemically represented in the brain. The functions of organs, such as rhythm and sensitivity, are represented in the brain just like computer configurations. These configurations explain the “Brain Network Structure” theory, and reconfiguration is possible. At this point that neuroscience has reached, the scientific discipline that explains the numerical equivalent of the brain related to emotion, thought, and behavior is called “Cognitive Psychology.”

I recommend you take a short tour of our brain, because our brain works by the rule of “Use it or lose it.”
