8th International Communication Days Crisis Communication in the Digital Age Symposium Abstracts Book

The catastrophic pandemic the world has been experiencing for the past year has led to significant blockages in many dimensions of human and social life. Perhaps for the first time in a long time, humanity is facing a crisis situation. What is more dire is to see how unsuccessful most countries in the world, especially major economic powers, have been in managing this global crisis. While mass panic can be expected in such major crises, it is expected that leaders do not panic, but manage the crisis on behalf of the masses and cope with the masses' morale and panic. However, this was not the case this time, and most country administrations did not pass the test successfully. This has led to greater moral panic among the masses, and this negative trend unfortunately continues. It is at this very point that the importance of communication management is once again understood. No matter how dire the situation, with successful communication management, at least the panic level of the masses can be controlled and the crisis can be overcome more lightly. Starting from this point, we found it appropriate to set this year's title of the 8th International Communication Days as Crisis Communication in the Digital Age. Thus, we aimed to emphasize once again how important communication management is in crisis situations and to raise awareness by discussing the issue from various dimensions.
