IFIG 2025 – 12th International Communication Days Proceedings Book
Organized every year with a different theme by the Faculty of Communication at Üsküdar University, the International Communication Days will be held in 2025 in Baku, in partnership with the Faculty of Journalism at Baku State University, in dedication to the 150th anniversary of the Azerbaijani National Press. The main theme of the 12th International Communication Days has been determined as Media and Communication Studies in the Digital Age.
The symposium, which will feature nationally and internationally recognized invited (keynote) speakers, will take place on May 14–15–16, 2025, in a hybrid format, both face-to-face and via Zoom/Webinar. During the symposium, simultaneous translation in Turkish, Azerbaijani Turkish, and English will be provided for the opening speeches and invited speaker sessions.
Rapidly developing digital technologies have led to transformative effects in media and communication processes. It is also observed that this transformation affects human and social life in various ways. The Media and Communication Studies in the Digital Age Symposium aims to open discussions on the human, social, political, and cultural reflections of the transformation in media production and consumption processes brought about by digitalization. By examining the nature of this transformation, its impact on the media ecosystem, and its potential global consequences in detail, the symposium aims to make a significant contribution to studies in the fields of communication and media.
The symposium, which has previously been held at Üsküdar University with the participation of academics from Türkiye as well as predominantly Western countries, will be organized in Baku this year, thereby encouraging participation from researchers from the East, particularly from the Turkic Republics. In this way, IFIG will continue to contribute to the international development of communication sciences and media studies as a scientific platform that brings together diverse perspectives from West to East and enables the exchange of different approaches.
The 12th International Communication Days / Media and Communication Studies in the Digital Age Symposium is a scientific event that adheres to international standards and adopts a double-blind peer-review evaluation process. The symposium meets the criteria for academic incentives and associate professorship. The Organizing and Scientific Committees include distinguished scholars from various universities in Türkiye and abroad.
